Roberto De Zerbi has been nominated for the Premier League’s October Manager of the Month award after Tottenham took 10 points from four matches.
Spurs confirmed the nomination on Thursday following an unbeaten league month of three wins and a draw. It is his first nomination since becoming Tottenham head coach.
De Zerbi: from a late point to three straight wins
October began with a 1-1 draw at Manchester United. Tottenham were a goal and a player down before Dominic Solanke scored in stoppage time to secure a point.
Their first league win of the season followed against Coventry City, with James Maddison, Omar Marmoush and Ben Davies scoring in a 3-1 home victory. Dejan Kulusevski also returned during that game.
Spurs then won 2-0 at Chelsea through a Mike Penders own goal and a Mathys Tel effort. The club described it as only their second victory at Stamford Bridge in 36 years.
They completed the month by beating Crystal Palace 2-0. Archie Gray and Jan Paul van Hecke scored from set pieces against a Palace side reduced to 10 players.
When does voting close?
De Zerbi is one of six managers shortlisted for October’s award. According to Tottenham’s announcement, the public vote closes at midday GMT on Monday 9 November. The Premier League also confirms the deadline and shortlist.
The nomination recognises a month that moved Spurs into the top half of the table. It is a place on the shortlist, not confirmation that he has won the award.
