Bryan Mbeumo had scored for United in the 73rd minute before Rodrigo Bentancur received a straight red card. Solanke, captaining Spurs for the first time, equalised in the 92nd minute to prevent defeat.
Man Utd 1-1 Spurs: chances before the breakthrough
Roberto De Zerbi made six changes from Tottenham’s previous league match against Aston Villa. Mohammed Kudus started his first league game since returning from injury.
Spurs created an early opportunity, long before the Solanke equaliser, when Lucas Bergvall won the ball after Senne Lammens passed towards Kobbie Mainoo. Solanke took the shot, but the United goalkeeper saved.
Bergvall then fired wide, while Kudus could not convert after a move involving Sandro Tonali, Destiny Udogie and Savio. Conor Gallagher also threatened before the interval, with Youri Tielemans and Lammens helping United keep the game goalless.
Solanke had another chance early in the second half, meeting Savio’s low cross but sending the effort over under pressure from Lisandro Martinez. However, Spurs had created openings without gaining a lead.
Bentancur dismissal leaves Spurs chasing a Solanke equaliser
United moved ahead when Matheus Cunha found Mbeumo in the box. The forward turned and finished low past Antonin Kinsky.

Bentancur was then sent off in the 78th minute following an incident with Luke Shaw. Therefore, Tottenham now needed an equaliser while playing with 10 men.
Kinsky kept the deficit at one goal when he saved another Mbeumo effort in the 86th minute. It proved an important stop as Spurs continued looking for a way back.
Solanke equaliser arrives in added time
Two minutes into the eight added on, the Solanke equaliser came as Tonali clipped a delivery into the penalty area. Solanke glanced his header into the far corner to make it 1-1.
Tottenham’s official match report confirms it was the club’s first away league goal of the season, as well as Solanke’s first game as Spurs captain.
However, the draw does not end Tottenham’s search for a league win, but the Solanke equaliser changed the outcome of a game that had appeared to be slipping away after the goal and dismissal.
The final score was Man Utd 1-1 Spurs. Sky Sports’ dated report corroborates Mbeumo’s 73rd-minute goal, Bentancur’s 78th-minute dismissal and Solanke’s 90+2 equaliser. For the build-up, see our Man United v Spurs UK TV and kick-off guide.
